Nas And Kelis To Divorce
Rapper Nas and singer Kelis are headed for a divorce after less than six years of marriage.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” said a spokesperson for Kelis to VIBE magazine. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
Attorney Laura Wasser filed a divorce upon Kelis‘ behalf, citing irreconcilable differences.This is despite the fact that the couple are expecting a son together.
It was noted in her divorce papers that Kelis, who is seven months pregnant, is due to deliver the child on July 21. “Yeah, man, I find out what it’s gonna be next week, so I’m happy,” said Nas to MTV News in February about having a child with the singer.
The two artists met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by Sean “Diddy
” Combs. After dating for almost two years, the two tied the knot in a small ceremony on July 28, 2003.
